Learn yourfinance
Short video tutorials, worked guides and help pages. Every example uses the demo dataset on made-up tickers.
Video tutorials
About a minute each, recorded in the app on the demo dataset, with captions. They play from YouTube: nothing loads from YouTube until you press play (privacy). All of them are also on our YouTube channel.
-
A quick tour of yourfinance
The main parts of the app in under 90 seconds, on a made-up DEMO holding after one covered-call roll: the basis, what is realized and what is still at risk, the Decision Desk, recording, importing, the weekly review, and where your records stay.
-
Your first covered call
Record your shares, then a covered call you already sold at your broker, and find it on the Decision Desk. On a made-up DEMO holding: a raw basis of 21.50 and 180 of open premium at risk.
-
The weekly decision desk
A weekly routine in yourfinance: the Decision Desk lists what needs a decision, most urgent first, and the weekly review collects the week, takes a short note, and saves a report or calendar file.
-
Your basis after a roll
What happens to your cost basis after a covered-call roll, in the app's own words: raw basis, premium-adjusted basis, the roll as one event in the Income calendar, and where corrections and undo live. A made-up DEMO holding.
-
Import your broker history
Bring your records in from a CSV: a broker's current positions, or your whole history through the yourfinance history template. Every row is previewed and checked first, and nothing is written until you confirm.
-
Income vs realized
How the Income page keeps premium collected, premium still at risk and realized P&L apart, month by month and event by event, and what its CSV export holds.
-
Year-end exports
At year end, yourfinance arranges your records for one tax year: a CSV for Germany, the Netherlands or Czechia, and the income CSV by year. It is not a tax calculation and not tax advice.
-
Backups, restore, and moving to a new Mac
Export backup puts your records in one .zip file. Restore it on a new Mac, or on the same one after an import went wrong, then paste the key from your purchase e-mail.
-
Activate your licence key
Paste the key from your purchase e-mail under Licence, or click the link in the e-mail. It is checked on your computer and nothing is sent anywhere. Beginner keeps one named account; Pro has unlimited accounts.

Guides
Worked by hand on the demo's figures.
-
A year-end wheel review checklist
Ten checks for the end of the year, before anything goes to your adviser: expiries, rolls, fees, cycles, realized against open, the exports and a backup. In yourfinance or in a spreadsheet. Not tax advice.
-
Adjusted cost basis for covered calls, step by step
Five steps to work out a covered call's premium-adjusted basis yourself, each shown on the demo dataset's roll, and what changes a step: fees, more shares, a call on part of them, the end of a cycle.
-
Covered-call cost basis after a roll
Raw basis 21.50. Adjusted basis 21.00 — not 20.10. The four meanings of 'cost basis' in a covered-call position, the settled-only adjustment method worked by hand, and the shortcut that quietly overstates your cushion.
-
How to record a roll
A roll is two trades and one decision: buy back the call you have, sell the next one. How to record it so premium, realized P&L and basis stay right, in a spreadsheet and in yourfinance, on the demo dataset's roll.
-
Premium collected vs realized P&L in covered calls
You collected $420 of covered-call premium. Only $150 is realized. A worked ledger showing the difference between premium collected, realized option P&L, and open premium at risk — with a downloadable worksheet.
-
Tracking the wheel: a spreadsheet or an app
What any wheel tracker has to get right, shown on one covered-call roll from the demo dataset: when a spreadsheet does the job, where it starts to strain, and what an app adds.
Help
- Getting startedYour first ten minutes in yourfinance: the trial and its sample, the display currency, your first position or import, the Decision Desk, and a first backup.
- Install and open yourfinanceWhich download to pick, how to check it, and the one question your computer asks the first time you open yourfinance.
- The trial, your key and the tiersTen days with every feature, then read-only until you add a key. How to activate the key from your purchase e-mail, what Beginner and Pro include, and what counts as one account.
- Import formatsThe files yourfinance can import: CSV exports from IBKR, DEGIRO, Trading 212 and Trade Republic, and its own two templates. What each brings in, and how the preview checks it before anything is written.
- Where your data livesEverything yourfinance records stays in one folder on your computer. What is in it, what is kept elsewhere, and why you should not edit it by hand.
- Backup and restoreExport everything in one file, restore it later or on another computer, and what the app backs up by itself. What a backup holds, and what it leaves out.
- TroubleshootingWhen yourfinance will not open, turns read-only, shows a recovery notice or greys out a button, and how to send us the details when none of that helps.
- Privacy and networkyourfinance sends nothing on its own. Every feature that could reach the network is off until you switch it on, and each says what it sends before it does.
